HOTEL INFORMATION
Captain Don's Habitat, Bonaire
P.O. Box 88
Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles

Starting out as a small diver’s haven built by Capt. Don back in 1976, Habitat Bonaire has kept that friendly, family feeling while evolving into a world renowned resort. Set amidst lush green gardens with colorful decor and landscaping we now offer the comforts of 3 deluxe varieties of accommodations: Junior Suites, Cottages, and Oceanfront Villas.

After diving, or in our case; between diving and sleeping, Habitat has a wonderful fresh water pool and secluded beach. Dining at Rum Runners won’t take you far from the sea as you enjoy the view from the terrace at the water’s edge. At night the new Rum Runners Bar comes alive with divers telling tales and dancing to the smooth Caribbean rhythms.

BONUS FEATURES

Capt. Don’s Habitat Dive Operation is centrally located within the resort complex for easy access from all rooms. We have three 1-tank boat departures daily and scheduled boat night dives to over 70 moored sights on our custom built, uncrowded dive boats. Each mooring buoy is limited to 1 boat so you’ll have the reef all to yourself. Diving Rates are priced per-dive or as part of a complete dive vacation package. Diving rates indicated are a la carte rates, better pricing is available on selected packages booked through one of our reservations centers.

Total Diving Freedom has always been the concept at Capt. Don’s Habitat. Over 50 pristine reef sights are within a 15 minute boat ride. Diving Freedom means 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with no rush or anxiety. Take a giant stride off our divers-only pier "baby dock" and you’re already looking at clusters of starlet coral, surrounded by colorful wrasse and gobies, and the drop-off starts in 30 feet, only a few kicks away. Shore diving is a must at Habitat and around the island of Bonaire rated as one of the top 5 dive shore diving destinations in the world! Following accepted safe diving practices, you can grab a tank and go....whenever you want!

The Habitat Dive Operation is not only a PADI 5-star Instructor Development Center, but a NAUI Dream Resort, SSI Referral facility, and TDI/SDI Instruction Center equipped to handle all of your certification needs including Rebreathers and Tri-Mix. Choose from over 20 specialty courses! All needed equipment is available for rental or sale in the Captain’s Locker which also has those last minute items you may have forgotten. Exposures Photo Center provides our guests with a full selection of the latest in photo and video equipment for rent or sale, personalized instruction, film processing, and private photo shoots. Its also a fun place to hang out and "talk photo" with the friendly photo pros. The Dive Center also rents Trek 820 Mountain Bikes and Ocean Kayaks for the adventuresome.

Habitat is neither pretentious nor regimented. Our multilingual, multicultural, professional staff are there to teach, assist, or advise in a relaxed and friendly manner. Whether you’ve been diving for years or are just starting out, Habitat diving will keep you happy.

Marine Park
All the beautiful waters around Bonaire are designated as a Marine Park. The fact that anchoring, spear fishing, touching the corals, and removing anything from the reef is prohibited helps us keep our reefs healthy for you to enjoy. A $10.00 US fee allows access to the Marine Park for the calendar year.

Per island policy, all Bonaire Dive Operators require anyone who has not been to Bonaire within one year to attend a brief orientation at 9 am their first day. No diving is permitted on the day of arrival and departure. If you arrive early in the afternoon, staffing permitting, an orientation will be provided for you so that you may dive that afternoon. However, there will be an additional charge of $10.00 per person for shore diving since your dive package does not include diving on the day of arrival.
